Karlová (Hungarian Turóckárolyfalva - until 1907 Károlyfalu ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 107 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Martin , part of the Žilinský kraj and is part of the traditional Turiec landscape .
geography
The community is located in the central part of the torrent basin (Slovak Turčianska kotlina ) on the Karlovský creek . The town center is at an altitude of 468 m nm and is 13 kilometers from Martin .
Neighboring municipalities are Rakovo in the north, Ďanová in the northeast, Blatnica in the east and south and Laskár in the west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1272 as Wyfalu , meaning "Neudorf", and was then owned by Murín , the son of Gregor. In 1279 comes Rečko exchanged the village for Pravno . In 1331 Karlová belonged to the sons of a certain Karol , later to the noble family Kossuth . From 1600 to 1848 the village was owned by the Benický family .
In 1715 there were ten households in Karlová, in 1785 the village had 19 houses and 147 inhabitants. In 1828 there were 20 houses and 112 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and oil pressers. In 1905 a fire destroyed the whole village.
The place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 , after which it became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 108 inhabitants in Karlová, 105 of them Slovaks . Ten residents gave no information about their ethnicity .
66 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 27 residents to the Evangelical Church AB and four residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church. Seven residents had no denomination and four residents had no denomination.
