The FC Kilmarnock (officially: Kilmarnock Football Club ) is a Scottish football club from Kilmarnock .
history
The club was founded in 1869 as a cricket club . The football department was founded in 1873. After playing in the top division, the "Scottish League Division 1", from 1900 to the war-related break in 1940, Kilmarnock rose in the first post-war season.
This was followed by a longer membership in Division 1 from 1954 to 1977. During this time, the only championship title to date was won in 1965. Then the FC Kilmarnock was an elevator team .
The club has been a member of Scotland's top division, the Scottish Premier League , without interruption since 1993.
In 1997 Kilmarnock Football Club surprisingly won its first title in 32 years and was Scottish Cup winner for the third time.
In 2012 Kilmarnock Football Club won the Scottish League Cup for the first time in the final against the big favorites Celtic with 1-0.
