The men's decathlon at the 1946 European Athletics Championships was held on 23 and 24 August 1946 in the Bislett Stadium in the Norwegian capital, Oslo .
European champion was the Norwegian Godtfred Holmvang . Second place went to Sergei Kuznetsov from the Soviet Union. The Swede Göran Waxberg won the bronze medal.

The decathlon was carried out according to the same rules as today. The ten disciplines took place over two days.
As at the last European Championships, the scoring was based on the points table from 1934.

For orientation and classification of the performances, the scores achieved in 1985 according to the current rating system are also listed for comparison. The rankings would only have been shifted from ten to twelve. The eleventh-placed Armando Ossena and the twelfth-placed Marjan Urbic would have moved up one rank each, while the tenth-placed Wacław Kuźmicki would be twelfth.
Of course, these comparisons are only indicative, because the different standards of the time must apply as a basis.
