The men's hammer throw at the 1982 European Athletics Championships was held on September 9 and 10, 1982 in the Olympic Stadium in Athens .
In this competition there was a triple victory for the hammer throwers from the USSR. For the second time European champion two-time Olympic champion was 1976 / 1980 Jurij Sjedych . EM silver went to Igor Nikulin . The 1980 Olympic runner-up and world record holder Sergei Litvinov won the bronze medal.
