The men's decathlon at the 1999 World Athletics Championships was held on August 24th and 25th, 1999 in the Olympic Stadium in the Spanish city of Seville .
World champion was the Czech defending champion, Olympic third in 1996 and world record holder Tomáš Dvořák . The Briton Dean Macey won the silver medal. Bronze went to the American Chris Huffins .

The world record holder and defending champion Tomáš Dvořák, Olympic Knight in 1996 , won his second of three World Cup titles
The reigning European champion Erki Nool came in 14th place - in the coming year he was Olympic champion
Tom Pappas was after three failed attempts in the pole vault on
Roman Šebrle gave up after failing to score points over 110 meter hurdles and in the pole vault
Benjamin Jensen failed to make a valid attempt in the high jump and then gave up
Frank Busemann came to the third discipline, the shot put , no longer
