The LesArt.Festival is a regional literature festival in Dortmund , which has been presenting literary works by both well-known authors and young literary talents since 2000 .

Regional and national experiments as well as the interactions and overlaps between literature and other media and arts are part of the program. At the festival, the LesArt.Prize of Young Literature is awarded annually to young Dortmunders who write. It is an initiative to promote young literary talent. The festival is organized by the Verein für Literatur e. V. organized in cooperation with the Dortmund Cultural Office and the Dortmund City and State Library . Artistic director is Klauspeter "Kape" Sachau.

In 2006, 2150 visitors took part in 14 events in 6 locations with 31 artists / artist groups. In 2007 there were 18 events in 7 locations with 28 artists / artist groups.

Projects to promote young talent

Every year there are three projects to promote young literary talent:

  • Dortmund kindergartens put on small plays based on children's books on the stage of the Fletch Bizzel theater.
  • The poetry slam , which is organized together with "jugendstil;", the state working group for youth and literature NRW e. V. and the Dietrich-Keuning-Haus. The Dortmund authors Grobylin Marlowe and Jürgen Wiersch work with Dortmund students on their texts and their performance. During the »Night of Young Literature« the texts will be read in the Fletch Bizzel theater .
