Marie Bouzková (born  July 21, 1998 in Prague ) is a Czech tennis player .

Career

Bouzková, who learned to play tennis at the age of five years at the club of parents who moved even with ten to Florida to attend the prestigious academy of Nick Bollettieri to train. Her greatest success as a junior was winning the junior competition at the US Open 2014 , where she prevailed against Anhelina Kalinina in the final and stayed without losing a set during the entire tournament. Before that, she had already reached the double-finals of the Wimbledon junior women's competition at the side of Dalma Gálfi , in which the two Tami Grende and Ye Qiuyu had to admit defeat. Thanks to her success at the Grand Slam tournaments, she climbed to seventh place in the junior women's tennis world rankings .

In 2013 Bouzková began playing on the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour after making her WTA debut with a wildcard for qualifying in WTA Katowice , but was eliminated there in the first round. The following year she won her first professional title, and in 2016 her first $ 25,000 tournament in Cuernacava . After two more ITF titles in early 2017, Bouzková qualified for the main draw of a WTA tournament for the first time in Biel , but there she lost in the first round to Barbora Strýcová . In London she started in the same year for the first time in the qualification of a Grand Slam tournament and reached the second round. In 2018 Bouzková made her debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament after successfully qualifying in New York , where she lost to Ana Bogdan in the first round . In Québec she then won her first match in the main round of a WTA tournament against Sessil Karatancheva .

In 2019, Bouzková's career took off when she reached the second round from qualifying at the start of the season in Brisbane and advanced to the final in a WTA Challenger Series tournament in Guadalajara , which she lost to Weronika Kudermetowa . In Wimbledon , she survived the opening round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time after moving up into the main field as a lucky loser and beating Mona Barthel there in the first round . This was followed by her biggest title win so far at an ITF tournament in the $ 80,000 category in Nur-Sultan and then with the move into the semi-finals of the Rogers Cup in Toronto, where she with Sloane Stephens in the second round and Simona Halep after giving up in the quarter-finals two Defeated players from the top 10 in the world rankings, the best result of her career so far.
