history
The place was founded in 1823 as a Cossack spa settlement and received the status of a stanitsa in 1842. It is named after the Russian Empress Marija Fjodorovna (born Sophie Dorothee von Württemberg, 1759-1828), wife of Paul I. The original spelling of the place name, which was used until the 20th century, was Marjinskaja ( Марьинская ). The Stanitsa initially belonged to the Temryuk Department (otdel) of Kuban Oblast .
From 1924 Marjanskaja belonged to the Krasnodarski rajon. From December 20, 1935 to August 22, 1953, it was the administrative seat of the independent Marjanski rajon, until it was connected to the Novotitarowski rajon based in Novotitarowskaya . This in turn was connected to the Dinskoi rajon based in Dinskaya in 1963, the western part of which with the Stanitsa Marjanskaya was handed over to the restored Krasnoarmeiski rajon on December 30, 1966 (this already existed on a smaller scale from 1934 to 1963).
