history

Starokorsunskaja is one of the first 40 stanits founded in 1794 in the Kuban area . It initially bore the name of Korsunskoje as a spa settlement , with reference to the original place of origin of the Cossacks , today's Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi in Ukraine . From the establishment of the Novokorsunskoje ("New-Korsunskoje", today Staniza Novokorsunskaya) settlement just under 70 km north, a little east of the present-day city of Timaschewsk , in 1809, the settlement was called Starokorsunskoje ("Old Korsunskoje"), from the time it was awarded the Status of a Staniza in 1842 under the current name. It initially belonged to the department (otdel) Jekaterinodar (today Krasnodar) of the Kuban Oblast .

During the Second World War Starokorsunskaja was occupied by the German Wehrmacht from August 10, 1942 to February 11, 1943 .
