Career
During the 1996 NHL Entry Draft , Marty Reasoner was selected as the 14th player by the St. Louis Blues . At that time he was playing for Boston College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . From 1998 the attacker was in the squad of the Blues and their farm team , the Worcester IceCats from the American Hockey League (AHL). In the 1998–99 season , Reasoner made his debut for the Blues in the National Hockey League (NHL). In total, the attacker spent three years in the organization of the Blues without being able to establish himself there in the NHL squad.
Together with Jochen Hecht and Jan Horáček , Reasoner was given to the Edmonton Oilers on July 1, 2001 in exchange for Captain Doug Weight and Michel Riesen . There the American promptly won a regular place and was henceforth regularly used in the NHL. The American bridged the lockout in the 2004/05 season at EC The Red Bulls Salzburg from Austria, for which he played a total of eleven games. On August 9, 2005 Reasoner extended his contract with the Oilers by one year, but was given on March 9, 2006 together with Yan Stastny and a second-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2006 in exchange for Sergei Samsonow to the Boston Bruins . He finished the season in Boston, but returned to Edmonton as a free agent in the summer of 2006 and signed a new two-year contract with the Oilers. After that time, the center signed with the Atlanta Thrashers on July 17th, 2008 . In June 2010 he was handed over to the Chicago Blackhawks along with Joey Crabb , Jeremy Morin and two voting rights for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft , with the Thrashers receiving Dustin Byfuglien , Ben Eager , Akim Aliu and Brent Sopel in return . The Blackhawks sent him to the Florida Panthers about a month later in exchange for Jeff Taffe . On July 1, 2011, Reasoner signed a two-year contract with the New York Islanders . After this, Reasoner ended his active career and switched directly to the management and coaching team of the Islanders.
