Mena ( Ukrainian and Russian Мена ) is a city in the Ukrainian Oblast of Chernihiv and the administrative center of the raion of the same name with about 11,400 inhabitants (2019).

Mena is also the administrative center of the Mena municipality with an area of ​​832.1 km² and 24,646 inhabitants. In addition to Mena, the municipality has 28 villages, 3 settlements and one urban-type settlement .

The city of Mena is located in Polesia on the banks of the Desna tributary of the same name in the east of Mena Rajon . In the city, the territorial roads T-25-34 and T-25-36 meet the regional road P-12 from Soznytsya in the east to Berezna in the west.

history

The city, first mentioned in writing in 1408, was occupied by the Wehrmacht from September 8, 1941 to September 18, 1943 and received city status in 1966.
