from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ORF best list is an Austrian list of what judges consider the best new literary publications from Austria and the world.

The best list has been drawn up since May 2003 by a jury made up of independent literary critics and booksellers. It was initiated by ORF literary journalist Günter Kaindlstorfer .

Once a month in the ORF telecast matinee the top ten presents -Books. Die Zeit im Bild , Ö1 radio, ORF-ON and Teletext also report regularly on the books of the month .

The more than 40 members of the jury (as of 2014) independently award 7, 5, 3 and 1 points for their personal four best titles. The points awarded are added up and result in the order. Each jury member is free to nominate fewer (or even none) titles. As soon as a title has been ranked three times on the ORF best list, it can no longer be considered.
