Orange County is a county in the state of New York in the United States . At the 2010 census , the county had 372,813 residents and a population density of 176.4 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Goshen .
history
The county derives its name from the Dutch King William III. from Orange-Nassau ( William of Orange ).

geography
The county has an area of 2,172 square kilometers, of which 58 square kilometers are water. Orange County is bordered to the east by the Hudson River , to the southeast by Rockland County , to the south by the state of New Jersey , and to the north by Sullivan Counties and Ulster Counties .
