The municipality of Orsingen-Nenzingen consists of the municipal parts of Nenzingen and Orsingen. On April 21, 839, Nenzingen was first mentioned as Nancingas in a document from the Reichenau monastery . The place belonged to the Landgraviate of Nellenburg and came to Upper Austria after the counts of Nellenburg died out in 1423 . On March 25, 1799 there was the battle of Stockach , which should actually be called the Battle of Nenzingen , because the village was located exactly between the positions of the Austrians and the French. In 1805 Nenzingen came to Württemberg and in 1810 to the newly created Grand Duchy of Baden .

Orsingen was first mentioned in a document on December 27, 1094. At that time, this village also belonged to the sphere of influence of the Landgraves of Nellenburg , who, however , passed it on to the Lords of Langenstein in 1174 . In the following centuries, the owners changed frequently until Orsingen came to Baden in 1826 .

Both then independent communities belonged to the Stockach district until 1973 . When this was dissolved, they moved to the district of Constance . In the course of the municipality reform in Baden-Württemberg , the two municipalities were merged on January 1, 1975.

The formerly more agricultural community developed into a residential community, in which more and more medium-sized businesses are settling. Orsingen offers with the industrial area Hinter dem Spital , Nenzingen with the industrial area Im Grund properties for small and medium-sized companies. The community also has a share in the Hardt industrial area developed jointly with the city of Stockach .

  • In Orsingen is attached to the St. Peter and Paul Church Attached Johanniter Chapel . It was built in 1627.
  • In the district of Nenzingen are the St. Ulrich church and the Martinskapelle , the bell of which is considered to be the second oldest in Germany. The high altar has leaves by Joseph Ignaz Wegscheider and copies of several figures by the sculptor Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer . The originals are exhibited in the Rosgarten Museum in Konstanz . The chapel was renovated in 2006.
  • At Orsingen the remains of a civil Roman street settlement ( Vicus Orsingen ) from the Vespasian or Trajan times were found. As early as the end of the 19th century, Roman walls were found and Roman weapons were found, in 1910/1911 there were again finds of Roman building remains, Roman ceramics and a copper coin found in 1976, as well as a house altar figure depicting the god Iuppiter . The find coin dates to the year 71 AD and was minted in Rome. The bronze statuette is in the holdings of the Freiburg Museum of Prehistory and Early History. A Roman road ran from Eschenz ( Tasgetium ) via Rielasingen-Singen, Friedingen , Maiershöfe and Wiechs past Orsingen to Liptingen. In Orsingen there was a branch to Pfullendorf and Burgweiler . Two other found coins date to a post-Limesque period between 330 and 341 AD.
