The Porsche Cayenne (Type 92A) is a model of the Porsche automobile brand and the successor to the Porsche Cayenne (Type 9PA) . It was presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2010. The market launch was on May 8, 2010 at a starting price of around 60,000 euros for the basic model.
Differences to the predecessor
The front cooling air openings are smaller than those of the predecessor and the headlights are reminiscent of those of the Panamera . The design of the interior also takes up elements of the Panamera. In addition, the vehicle is five centimeters longer than its predecessor and the wheelbase has grown by four centimeters.
The vehicle is 40 to 90 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. The weight saving results from the redesign of the chassis, doors and wiring harness and the elimination of the heavy transfer case with dynamic interleaf lock and off-road reduction. In the variants with gasoline engines, except for the hybrid, and the Cayenne S Diesel, an actively controlled multi-plate clutch , a so-called hang-on transmission, is now used instead . In other variants, a Torsen center differential (unregulated and mechanically self-locking ) is used. The Cayenne now weighs 2065 kilograms. The air suspension with variable damping (Porsche Active Suspension Management - PASM) and the roll stabilization PDCC were introduced.
In addition to the Porsche plant in Leipzig , the second generation of the Cayenne was also assembled at Volkswagen Osnabrück from 2015 .
drive
The engine range corresponds to a large extent to that of the sister model VW Touareg II , although until recently Porsche did without the V8 TDI and instead offered a V8 petrol engine as the most powerful engine. Most of the engines have been with the predecessor since 2007, but they are more economical because of their lower weight.
A 3.6-liter VR6 petrol engine from Volkswagen in the Cayenne model , a V6 3.0 TDI diesel engine from Audi in the Cayenne Diesel model , a V8 petrol engine in the Cayenne S model and a V8 petrol engine in the model are available Cayenne Turbo . A new addition is a hybrid drive for the Cayenne S Hybrid . The TDI, the hybrid drive and the two V8 petrol engines are also offered for the Porsche Panamera .
The hybrid has a 34 kW (46 hp) electric motor and a 3.0-l V6 gasoline engine with direct injection and supercharging from Audi . It has a maximum output of 245 kW (333 hp). The maximum torque is 580 Nm and is available from a speed of 1000 rpm. The electric motor can move the vehicle up to a speed of 60 km / h independently of the gasoline engine, which switches off when stationary and in coasting mode . According to Porsche, the consumption is 8.2 liters per 100 kilometers. The CO 2 emissions are 193 g / km.
In all versions, the power transmission is an eight-speed automatic Tiptronic S from Aisin Seiki . An automatic start-stop system is also available. A specially adapted thermal management for the engine and transmission cooling circuit as well as a brake energy recovery reduce consumption.
Power is transmitted by the Porsche Traction Management , which in most models consists of an all-wheel drive that enables dynamic and variable power distribution by means of a regulated multi-plate clutch. The Cayenne Diesel and Cayenne Hybrid variants have an all-wheel drive with a self-locking center differential . For vehicles with controlled all-wheel drive, a controlled rear axle differential lock can also be ordered using the PTV + ( Porsche Torque Vectoring ) equipment . PTV + is standard on the Cayenne Turbo S.

Facelift in autumn 2014
The Cayenne underwent a facelift in October 2014. The look of the front, the front fenders, the bonnet, the taillights and the rear apron have changed. There were also daytime running lights in 4-point optics for all models and a standard LED headlight system in the Cayenne Turbo. In the interior, the sports steering wheel from the Porsche 918 Spyder and Porsche Macan is now installed as standard for all models . There were other changes to the engine range. Instead of the previous eight-cylinder, the Cayenne S now has a double-charged 3.6-liter V6 with 309 kW (420 hp). A plug-in hybrid with a 70 kW electric and V6 petrol compressor engine (245 kW / 333 PS) now works in the Cayenne S E-Hybrid . Since this facelift, the Cayenne also has the 8-stage Tiptronic S as standard.
