Rafael Sanchez (director)

Rafael Sanchez (* 1975 in Basel ) is a Swiss director and artistic director with Spanish roots. Since the beginning of Stefan Bachmann's directorship (2013/14 season), Sanchez has been one of three in-house directors at Schauspiel Köln .

From 1994 to 1997 he worked as an actor and director at the Junge Theater Basel until he became in-house director at the Theater Basel in 2003 . Sanchez has staged at various German-speaking theaters, including the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the Schaubühne Berlin , the Berlin Gorki Theater , the Schauspielhaus Zurich , the Thalia Theater Hamburg , Schauspiel Essen and the Schauspielhaus Hanover .

From the 2008/2009 season he was artistic director together with Barbara Weber at the Theater am Neumarkt in Zurich .
