Regional kitchen terms
When it comes to kitchen terms, there are sometimes large regional differences in German-speaking countries that can lead to confusion, hence this table. Colloquially used terms are written in italics .
The terms were partly created through contact with other neighboring languages, e.g. B. in German cuisine with French (aubergine), in Austrian cuisine with Italian (Melanzani, Fisolen , cauliflower ), Czech (Kren, Powidl, Murkerl , Kolatsche, Bramburi ), Hungarian (Goulash, Letscho), the Slovenian (Maischl, Potitze, Kärntens Strankerln ).
