Rocky III - Eye of the Tiger is an American boxing film of the director and the actor Sylvester Stallone in 1982 and the third part of the Rocky film series . The film is a co-production by United Artists and Chartoff-Winkler Productions on distribution by MGM / UA Entertainment Company and was released in US cinemas on May 28, 1982 and in German cinemas on November 12, 1982.

action

At the end of the previous film, Rocky Apollo Creed defeated in the title fight. His dream of becoming world heavyweight champion has come true. Now he can afford everything he has always dreamed of and offer his wife what she has always wanted, e.g. B. a big house and a luxurious lifestyle. Cared for by his old mentor and trainer Mickey, Rocky successfully defended his title ten times. He is also a sought-after man in the media; so he is engaged in a show fight against the wrestling champion Thunderlips for a charitable cause.

At the same time, the newcomer clubber Lang is slowly but inexorably fighting his way into the number one challenger. The contrasts between the two boxers could hardly be greater: Lang is black, poor and hungry for success, while Rocky is white and wealthy and basks in success. When Lang challenges and insults Rocky during the unveiling of his memorial statue in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rocky urges the fight, but his trainer Mickey intervenes and explains that Lang won't get a chance. Mickey thinks Rocky is too tired of success to stand up to the "killer" Lang. But Rocky persuades Mickey to arrange the fight and train him again.

But the training turns into a farce, since Rocky has lost his fighting spirit in a comfortable life. More degenerate into the show, a badly trained Rocky must quickly realize that Mickey, who is meanwhile dying, was right. Badly hit by Lang's hard blows, Rocky loses by knockout in round 2 and thinks of quitting. His trainer Mickey dies of heart failure shortly after the fight.

Demoralized, Rocky can be persuaded by his old opponent Apollo Creed to a rematch against Lang. He and his former trainer Duke train Rocky like a newcomer in Los Angeles so that Rocky can get the "Eye of the Tiger" again. Rocky gradually builds up new self-confidence, and the new, "black" training methods (prancing, agility, skillful evasion and countering) are also having an effect.

When Rocky is back in shape, he challenges Clubber Lang to a rematch to regain his title. An uphill battle begins and it is broadcast around the world. This time clubbers' punches usually go nowhere until he has boxed himself tired. Finally, Rocky wins by knockout and can thus prove to everyone that he is still the best boxer.

The film ends with a private rematch between Rocky and Apollo, who have since become friends, the outcome of which is only revealed in the Creed spin-off .

synchronization

The German dubbing was based on a dialogue book and directed by Arne Elsholtz on behalf of Berliner Synchron . Most of the voice actors in the first two films were not hired again, which is why there was a cast.
