The Rosenheim Summer Festival is an open air - Festival , which annually in July in Rosenheim is organized in Upper Bavaria. Local, national and international artists from different genres ensure a varied program. On some days (e.g. the "Family Day") admission is free. There is no continuous program over a continuous period of time, rather a card can be purchased individually for each day. Camping facilities are not available. A special feature is the fact that the festival pass (entitled to entry on all days) is officially transferable.

history

In 2011, the 2010 Rosenheim Summer Festival was held for the first time on the "Mangfallpark Süd" site of the State Horticultural Show . The motto at that time was "Inspiration on the river". Before that, a stage for the cultural program had already been installed at this point during the garden show, but it could not remain permanently. Since the visitors and the city of Rosenheim were enthusiastic about the location as an event location, the summer festival was launched. It lasted nine days, four of which were free. Entry was generally free for children up to 10 years of age. The festival pass for all chargeable events was available for € 50.

A year later, the program was upgraded with more well-known artists. The planned band Foreigner had to cancel the tour due to illness. Roger Hodgson from Supertramp could be won as a replacement. The festival pass went up to € 70. In 2013, the missed appearance was made up for. The program was also mixed with everything from Bavarian and Irish music to pop and soul. Most of the concerts were seated in the front area, so you were allowed to bring chairs and picnic blankets.

The band Unheilig was won as headliner for 2014. The rest of the program was again completely mixed, from Bavarian music to rock to Italian music by Umberto Tozzi. This year, the festival pass was offered for the first time for the period up to the end of March (€ 85) than afterwards (€ 95).

In 2015, the program made a huge leap in the popularity of the performers (Andreas Bourani, Reinhard Fendrich, Die Fantastischen Vier, Gregor Meyle ...). As a result, no more seating was set up and it was no longer allowed to bring seats and blankets. The price of the festival pass rose again to € 95 by the end of March and € 110 thereafter. Over 90% of the tickets were already bought at a discounted price. A jump to 50,000 people was also noticeable in the number of visitors.

For the year 2016, the festival passes were sold out for the first time at a special price (€ 99) in December of the previous year. At the regular price of € 120 from March 2016, no more tickets were sold. Single tickets were still available, but also sold out quickly due to the international stars. Since the maximum number of people would have been exceeded at the sold-out concerts, it was the first time that children could no longer be taken onto the site free of charge. In the following years, this restriction was no longer relaxed for security reasons.

With 55,000 visitors, the number of visitors of the previous year could not be quite matched in 2017, but the event was a great success for the Rosenheim region. The appearance of the Sons of Mannheim was very controversial due to the participation of Xavier Naidoo and was accompanied by a demonstration. The feared problems did not materialize due to the very small number of participants. With Roland Kaiser, a well-known pop star was signed for the first time, with ZZ Top a well-known rock band from the USA also came to the Mangfall stage. Only one sales price was set for the festival passes. All passports were sold out within a few hours.

In 2018 the Fantastischen Vier returned to Rosenheim for a second time after having enjoyed the band exceptionally well three years earlier. With the appearance of the Austrian band Wanda, an extraordinary act was won alongside the other relative "mainstream" appearances. As 3 of the days were completely sold out (Fanta4, Sting / Shaggy, Wanda) and the other days with good weather also attracted many visitors, the visitor record from 2016 was achieved again.
