The Royal Belgian Football Association (KBFV) ( Dutch Koninklijke Belgische Voetbalbond (KBVB), French Union Royale Belge des Sociétés de Football Association (URBSFA)) is the Belgian football association . It is based in Brussels . The King Baudouin Stadium , which is also located in Brussels, serves as the national stadium .

tasks

The KBFV is responsible for the organization of football and futsal in Belgium and is therefore responsible, among other things, for the Belgian national football team . It has over 450,000 members and comprises 1,860 clubs. He is also the host of the highest leagues Division 1A , Division 1B and BeNe League (joint Belgian-Dutch women's league) as well as the Belgian Cup and the Supercup . Pro League was commissioned by the KBFV with the specific organization of Division 1A, Division 1B, the Supercup and the Cup from the sixteenth finals (the first round in which the clubs of Division 1A also take part) .

history

On September 1, 1895, ten clubs founded the Federation of Belgian Athletic Sports Societies on the initiative of Louis De Schrijver . In 1904, the association joined FIFA . In 1948 the medical and sports institute and the Heysel trainer school were founded. In 1954 the KBFV became one of the founding members of UEFA . On June 4, 1989, a new association building was opened near the Heysel Stadium . In 1992 the association received the FIFA Fair Play Prize for its humanitarian campaign Acción Diablos rojos Casa Hogar .

Since November 8, 2019, the KBFV has only used the English name Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) in its external presentation, including the name of the website or the logo . The move of the association headquarters to the newly built football center in Tubize is planned for March 2021 . Fixed workplaces for the video referees (VAR) are also to be set up there.
