Ryō Miyaichi ( Japanese 宮 市 亮 , Miyaichi Ryō ; born December 14, 1992 in Okazaki ) is a Japanese football player .

Career

Earlier life

Miyaichi comes from an athletic family, his father is a former baseball player and his brother Tsuyoshi is also a soccer player.

Ryō Miyaichi began playing football in his elementary school at Sylphid FC in Nagoya . In 2008 he came to the Chūkyō University belonging to the Chūykō High School and played there for the school team. In 2010 his team reached the national high school championships, but dropped out in the first round.

Arsenal FC and various loan stations

In the summer of 2010 he trained with the English top club Arsenal . Despite an impressive performance, Arsenal decided against a contract offer for the time being and Miyaichi went to trial training with Dutch record champions Ajax Amsterdam , but broke his leg during training. Despite the injury, Arsène Wenger called him and offered him a contract with Arsenal. On January 31, 2011 the transfer was dry and he signed his first professional contract.

Shortly after signing the contract, he was awarded to the Eredivisie at Feyenoord Rotterdam . On February 5, he made his professional debut against Vitesse Arnheim , where he played the game over the full distance and was voted "Man of the Match". Only a week later he scored the opening goal against Heracles Almelo and was involved in the creation of the second goal. On April 17, he scored twice in a 6-1 victory over Willem II Tilburg . After an excellent second half of Miyaichi, Feyenoord wanted to borrow the wing racer for the 2011/12 season.

Miyaichi returned to Arsenal and made his debut in Arsenal on their Asian tour against the Malaysia All-Stars XI. He was in the starting line-up and was substituted on for Robin van Persie in the 66th minute . Miyaichi was in the squad of a league game for the first time against Liverpool on the second day of the Premier League . On August 23, 2011, he scored his first goal for the reserve team. On September 20, he made his first competitive game for Arsenal in the League Cup against Shrewsbury Town when he came on in the 71st minute for Koreans Park Chu-young .

On January 31, 2012, Arsenal FC announced that Miyaichi would be loaned to Bolton Wanderers until the end of the season.

For the 2012/13 season Miyaichi was loaned to Wigan Athletic .

On September 1, 2014 Miyaichi moved to the Dutch Eredivisie for FC Twente on loan until the end of the 2014/15 season .

Change to FC St. Pauli

After his contract with Arsenal had expired, Miyaichi moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for FC St. Pauli for the 2015/16 season free of charge . During the pre-season preparation in summer 2015, he tore a cruciate ligament . So he played his first competitive game for FC St. Pauli in April 2016, almost ten months after his move. In his starting line-up debut on the last day of the season, he scored two goals against 1. FC Kaiserslautern . His contract runs until 2021.

National team

Miyaichi played for the Japanese U-17 national team and made two international matches at the 2009 U-17 World Cup against Switzerland and Mexico.

On May 23, 2012 he made his international debut in the friendly against Azerbaijan .

Others

The Dutch media gave Miyaichi the nickname "Ryodinho" in reference to the Brazilian soccer player Ronaldinho .
