history

The earliest traces of settlement in the area date from Roman times . The discovery of graves from the time of the Bavarian conquest in the area of the church of Unterlangkampfen shows that this was a central place of the Bavarian settlement. The first written mention of Langkampf dates back to the Carolingian period in the late 8th century. In a traditional note of Mondsee Abbey of approximately 784 to 799 the Convention agricultural property is "in villa nuncupante Lantchampha " transmitted.

A judge from Langkampfen was first mentioned in a document in the 14th century, but the court presumably existed earlier and developed in connection with the original parish. The court was overturned in 1385, but the Schranne continued to exist as an administrative unit.

In 1419 Duke Friedrich IV built a ferry across the Inn and Langkampfen developed into an important base for the Inn shipping industry, where numerous Schoppers (shipbuilders) settled. The ferry existed until the bridge between Kirchbichl and Langkampfen was built around 1900.
