The Schieferberg is a nature reserve in the town of Oberharz am Brocken in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0191 is 65.45  hectares . It is completely surrounded by the "Harz und Vorländer" conservation area. The area has been under protection since 1999 (date of regulation: November 25, 1999). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Harz district.

The nature reserve is located southwest of Blankenburg (Harz) in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . It puts the eponymous mountain between two side valleys of the Bode and the Bode or the Wendefurth dam under protection. In the nature reserve, toothroot and beech forests grow on slate . The local diversity results from outcrops and culturally and historically valuable, abandoned slate quarries in the slate valley with small-scale ravine and rubble forests . The nature reserve is a total reserve and therefore free of any use.

The nature reserve is u. a. Habitat for wild cats , black storks and adder .
