The Hasselniederung is a nature reserve in the town of Oberharz am Brocken in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0025 is around 7.7  hectares in size. It is completely surrounded by the "Harz und Vorländer" conservation area. The area has been under protection since 1967 (date of regulation: September 11, 1967). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Harz district.

The nature reserve is located southeast of Hasselfelde in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt nature park . It places a section of the Hassel valley between Hasselfelde and Stiege under protection. The valley is predominantly characterized by grassland . The grassland areas are dominated by moist meadows with the large meadow button , meadow gold oats , forest cork's bill , swamp thistle , broad-leaved orchid , spherical devil's claw , small rattle pot and bearwort . Are only a few remains of a perennial rich Trollblumen persicaria-company with Bistort , cabbage thistle , autumn crocus , Bogbean and Trollblume to find. Small areas of small sedge with meadow and hedgehog sedge , narrow-leaved cotton grass , ostrich grass and swamp violets can be found. Parts of the protected area have not been used since 1970, so that large sedge reeds with panicle and slender sedge could develop. The Hassel is occasionally accompanied by alder and willow trees.

The Hassel lowlands are habitat for the marsh warbler , white wagtail , skylark and meadow pipit . Also locusts as marsh grasshopper and Small Gold Grasshopper and butterflies like the Braunfleckige Fritillary occur here.

In the east, the nature reserve borders on federal highway 242 . Otherwise it borders on agricultural land . In the north, a high-voltage line crosses the protected area.
