Burgesroth – Bruchholz is a nature reserve in the town of Ballenstedt in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0069 is around 195  hectares . It is completely part of the FFH area "Burgesroth and deciduous forests near Ballenstedt" and the EU bird sanctuary "Northeastern Lower Harz". The nature reserve is completely from the conservation area surrounded "resin and flood plains". The area has been under protection since 1998 (date of regulation: March 9, 1998) and replaces the “Burgesroth” nature reserve, which was designated in 1961. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Harz district.

The nature reserve is located southwest of Ballenstedt in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt nature reserve . It places a predominantly wooded area with various types of biotopes under protection. Primarily, there are natural deciduous forest communities and former middle forests with a high proportion of old and dead wood , including bedstraw- oak-hornbeam forest , grove-beech forest and alder forest communities . In the forest areas there are spring areas and near-natural stream valleys . The source streams unite in the nature reserve to the Nagelbach, which flows into the Getel, a tributary of the Selke . This is included in the nature reserve up to the dammed reed pond. Furthermore, wet meadows and wet meadows are embedded in the forests .

Most of the forest communities in the nature reserve emerged from a medium-sized forest with red beech and sessile oak . In addition, hornbeam and silver birch are primarily found. The herb layer is u. a. of Einblütigem melic , Bergrispengras, Tonquil and Real Sternmiere formed. A sessile oak and hornbeam forest with winter linden , service tree and wild fruit grows on the southern slope . The seams at the edges of the forest and roads are u. a. formed by Heilziest , middle clover , white cinquefoil and Nordic bedstraw .

Along streams and swamps in the area of the source falter alder forests . In addition, along the brooks, flood swathes , reed cane , marsh sedge and meadowsweet riverbank perennial as well as marsh pippau , meadow sedge and marsh scraper can be found on the edges of the wet meadows. Globeflower , autumn crocodile , meadow knotweed , swamp sword lily , small valerian and fairytale cups, as well as various types of orchids , including spotted orchid , grow on the species-rich wet meadows . Other rare or protected plant species are the Siberian iris , real daphne , carnation and large star umbel .

The nature reserve is the habitat of numerous animal species, including wildcat , dormouse , smooth snake and fire salamander . The old trees provide a suitable habitat for the stock dove , black , gray and middle woodpecker . The nature reserve is of particular importance for bats . So come here u. a. Bechstein's bat , noctule bat , great bearded bat , water bat and brown long-eared bat .

The nature reserve mostly borders on other wooded areas. To the northwest it borders on federal highway 185 .
