The Osteroder Holz is a nature reserve in the town of Osterwieck in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0027 is 50.54  hectares . It is fully part of the FFH - and EU bird sanctuary "Fallstein area north Osterwieck" and the conservation area surrounded "Fallstein". The area has been under protection since May 1, 1961. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Harz district.

The nature reserve is located southeast of Hornburg and northeast of Osterwieck in the north of the Großer Fallstein . It puts an oak-hornbeam forest under protection. Parts of the forest were previously used as a hut forest . Common beech , sessile oak , hornbeam and winter linden are the predominant tree species. The shrub layer in the forest is quite poor in species. Real daphne is characteristic here . The herb layer is u. a. formed by forest barley , liverwort , fescue fescue , forest twinkle and forest bedstraw . On sites with increasing Lößmächtigkeit are lily of the valley , Maianthemum bifolium , Whitish woodrush and wavy hair to find.

In Osteroder Holz are u. a. Common buzzard , red kite and sparrowhawk are native. The forest is rich in hoofed game . The forest area, which extends south into the forests on the Großer Fallstein, is surrounded by fields to the west, north and east .
