The Bielstein cave area near Rübeland is a nature reserve in the town of Oberharz am Brocken in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0389 is around 34  hectares in size. Part of the nature reserve is also designated as an FFH area . The reserve is part of the conservation area surrounded "resin and flood plains". It has been under protection since 2012 (date of regulation: July 16, 2012). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Harz district.

The nature reserve is located southeast of Elbingerode (Harz) in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . It protects the Bielstein with its plateau areas and its slopes, some of which drop steeply towards the Bode, as well as a structurally rich section of the soil slopes up to the Tiefenbachskopf south of the Bielstein. The slopes of the Bielstein are karstified . Here are the Cameroonians and the Bielshöhle and several smaller caves. The slopes of the Bielstein are partly open, partly wooded with a mosaic of limestone corridors, semi- arid grassland , grassland and various forest communities. The slopes of the Tiefenbachkopf, which are included in the nature reserve, are shaped by a mosaic of mixed slope forests, semi-arid grassland, rock formations and rubble heaps. Calcareous spring water escapes from the slate walls of the Tiefenbachkopf.

Caverns Biel stone have special meaning as swarming, winter and between quarters for various bats , including Bechstein's bat and greater mouse-eared , Daubenton's bat , Large and Small Brandt's bat , Natterer's bat , brown long-eared , Serotine , Northern bat and pipistrelle bats and other cave-specific animal species. In addition, wild cats , dormouse , eagle owls , red-backed shrimp , brown and stonechat live in the nature reserve . The caves are also geologically significant due to their size and variety of shapes.

The occurrence of several rare plants such as turf saxifrage , spherical devil's claw , medicinal root and occurrence of moss species , some of which only occur here in Saxony-Anhalt, are remarkable . Rare ferns are also found here.
