The Hammelwiese is a nature reserve in the town of Blankenburg (Harz) in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0063 is around 5.84  hectares . It is part of the FFH area "Kalkflachmoor im Helsunger Bruch" and is surrounded by the landscape protection area "Harz und Vorländer". It has been under protection since 1967 (date of regulation: September 11, 1967). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Harz district.

The nature reserve is located southeast of Blankenburg (Harz) and northwest of Thale in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . It protects the remains of the last calcareous flow moor in Saxony-Anhalt, lying in a chalk hollow . The moor is fed by calcareous groundwater. The mutton meadow was used as pasture until the 1960s and was mowed sporadically. Then it fell broke , so that damp and lime-loving plants could spread. So here are Juncus Subnodulosus , autumn crocus , Black schoenus , swamp Sitter , marsh orchid , marsh lousewort , Common Butterwort , Ordinary Devil's , Parnassus and adder's tongue Ordinary find. There is also a large angelica-cabbage thistle meadow, which when mown is rich in herbs such as broad-leaved orchid, sharp buttercup and marsh pinnau , in the nature reserve. Other areas are taken up by slender sedge and swamp sedge as well as reed beds and vineyards.

The mutton meadow offers u. a. Marsh harrier , corncrake and whinchat a habitat. Also locusts as Marsh Grasshopper , Large gold grasshopper and Langflüglige and Kurzflüglige sword-warrior and dragonflies as scarce blue-tailed damselfly , keeled skimmer and Nordic leuccorhinia live here.

The area drains through several ditches accompanied by bushes to the Zapfenbach, which flows into the Mühlengraben, a tributary of the Bode near Quedlinburg . It borders on agricultural areas that are mainly used as grassland in the immediate vicinity of the Hammelwiese . The area north of the nature reserve is lined with trees.
