The column moor is a nature reserve in the town of Quedlinburg in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0067 is 80.65  hectares . It is congruent with the FFH area "column moor east of Friedrichsbrunn" and part of the EU bird sanctuary "Northern Lower Harz". The nature reserve is completely from the conservation area surrounded "resin and flood plains". The area has been under protection since May 1, 1961, initially under the name "Hochmoore Gernrode", and was expanded by around 55 hectares by resolution of March 17, 1983. Since then, the nature reserve has been known as "Column Moor". The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Harz district.

The nature reserve is located northeast of the Friedrichsbrunn district of Thaler on the Ramberg in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt nature reserve . It places various forest communities under protection. On plateaus and shallow slopes, grove rushes and red beech forests grow with sessile oak , which here achieve one of their highest natural occurrences in the Harz Mountains . The herb layer is u. a. formed by seven star and Harz bedstraw . On slopes exposed to the north, woodruff beech forests predominantly grow with onion tooth root , whorl white root and various ferns . The lower slopes are occupied by beech forests with sycamore maple , which are joined by forget-me-not alder forest communities on medium to deep peat soils in the basin of a brook . In this forest form, which is rare in the Harz, the black alder dominates . The herbaceous layer is of Carex riparia , Woolly reed grass, Wechselblättrigem Chrysosplenium and Hainvergißmeinnicht formed. On less wet locations, alder quarry forest is stocky with woolly riding grass, seven-star and wood sorrel .

The nature reserve is u. a. Breeding area for black woodpecker , woodcock and black stork . The dormouse is also native here. A 43.05 hectare area of ​​the nature reserve is left to natural development as a total reserve .
