The Schwalbenmühle (colloquially: Schwalmmíl ) is a district of the town of Windsbach in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

geography

The Schwalbenbach, a left tributary of the Franconian Rezat, flows through the wasteland . The Steinmauern forest area begins to the southeast . A local road leads to State Road 2220 (0.3 km south) between Windsbach (0.7 km west) and Wolfsau (1 km east).

history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1531 as "Schwalbenmül". Although the mill is only on a brook, it could be operated as a water mill by damming the water of the thin trickle. This explains the name, which has no connection with the swallow, but is derived from thresholds (damming).

In the 16-point report of the Windsbach Oberamt from 1608, 1 team is recorded for the Schwalbenmühle, which was subordinate to the Windsbach caste office in Brandenburg-Ansbach . The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach .

Towards the end of the 18th century, the Schwalbenmühle belonged to Windsbach. She had the caste office Windsbach as landlord. Under the Prussian administration (1792–1806) of the Principality of Ansbach, the Schwalbenmühle received the number 175 of the city of Windsbach when the house numbers were assigned. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach .

As part of the municipal edict, Schwalbenmühle was assigned to the Windsbach tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the municipality of Windsbach, founded in 1810 .

Soil monuments

  • A little east of the Schwalbenmühle there are burial mounds of prehistoric times.
  • There was a rampart south of the mill, the exact time is not known.
