The wasteland lies in the Aurach valley . There the Almesbach flows into the Aurach as a right tributary. Approx. The Martinsbuck rises 0.5 km to the northwest ( 407  m above sea level ), about 0.75 km to the west is the Schlossberg (Schlossbuck) ( 400  m above sea level ) with a castle stables. The district road AN 17 / RH 5 leads to Veitsaurach (1.1 km northwest) or Rudelsdorf (0.9 km southeast).

history

Originally the mill belonged to the feudal private property of the Abenberg burgraves . On March 7, 1296, the place was first mentioned as "Puggenhouen" in a document in which the sale of Abenberg and its affiliations to the Eichstätt Monastery was confirmed. The defining word of the place name is the personal name Bucko, who was probably the first owner of this mill. An Eichstätter fief book, which was made around 1300, shows that there were two fiefdoms next to the mill, one of which was deserted.

In the 16-point report of Oberamts wind stream from the year 1608 a team listed for Buck mill. The landlord was the Abenberg caste office in Eichstätt . The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach .

In 1632 the mill burned down in the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War . The owner was killed. A new mill was only built thirty years later by Georg Hofmann.

Towards the end of the 18th century, the Buckenmühle belonged to Veitsaurach. It was under the Abenberg caste office of the Eichstätt bishopric. Under the Prussian administration (1792–1806) of the Principality of Ansbach, the Buckenmühle was given the number 30/31 of the place Veitsaurach when the house numbers were assigned. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach .

As part of the municipal edict, the "Buchenmühl" was assigned to the Bertholdsdorf tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Bertholdsdorf, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818) Buckenmühle was changed to the newly formed rural community Veitsaurach . This was incorporated into the municipality of Stadt on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform .

The Buckenmühle was operated until 1971. Today the hydropower of the Aurach has lost its importance; the Buckenmühle has a maintenance-free, solar-electric system with an output of over 10 kilowatts.
