The 1952/53 season was the ninth season of Division 1 as the highest Swedish ice hockey division . Champion became the fifth time in the history of the Södertälje SK . AIK Solna , IK Huge , Forshaga IF and Nacka SK relegated to the second division.

mode

In the main round, the league was divided into two groups (North and South). Each of the six teams per group played a total of ten games. The two group winners met in the championship final. The last two in each group were relegated directly to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
