The 1967/68 season was the 24th season of Division 1 as the highest Swedish ice hockey division . Brynäs IF became champions for the fourth time in the club's history . Tegs SK , Strömsbro IF , Färjestad BK and Tingsryds AIF relegated to the second division.

In the main round, the league was divided into two groups (North and South). Each of the eight teams per group played a total of 21 games. The four best-placed teams in each group qualified for the final round, in which the champions were played. The last two in each group were relegated directly to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
