Blaichach is a Bavarian municipality and a village in the Oberallgäu district in Germany .
geography
location
The community is located in the Swabian district of Oberallgäu. It borders in the east on Burgberg , the district town of Sonthofen , Ofterschwang and Bolsterlang , in the south-west on Balderschwang , in the west on Oberstaufen and in the north on Immenstadt .
The river Iller flows through Blaichach in the northeastern municipality .
Blaichach is a member of the German-Austrian joint project Naturpark Nagelfluhkette .

history
Until the church is planted
The place was first mentioned in 1275 as Bilaicha . The Counts of Montfort -Rothenfels built a customs bridge over the Iller in 1494 , with which the important salt road from Oberjoch to Lindau led directly past Blaichach. Blaichach was part of the county of Königsegg-Rothenfels , which was exchanged for Austria in 1804 and fell to Bavaria in the Peace of Preßburg (1805) . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
20th century
In World War II, the present was from July 1944 to May 1945 in the range Bosch -Werks west of Sonthofener road a satellite camp of Dachau concentration camp , were imprisoned in the 730 men who for the Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) in the arms production forced labor do had. Above the graves of four Soviet and one Dutch concentration camp victims in the cemetery , a memorial stone commemorates what happened.
On July 1, 1972, the neighboring municipality of Gunzesried with over 1000 inhabitants was incorporated into the municipality of Blaichach. 1978 led to the formation of the communities from Blaichach and Burgberg im Allgaeu existing administrative community Blaichach, but which was dissolved in 1980 again. From 1990 to 1996 the town center was redeveloped, so the church square was redesigned, the old cemetery was integrated into the new cemetery and a bypass was built.
Population development
From 1988 to 2008 Blaichach grew by 599 inhabitants or 12%. Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 4993 to 5811 by 818 inhabitants or 16.4%.

Mayor is Christof Endreß (Blaichach-Bihlerdorf-Gunzesried community of voters). On May 1, 2014, he succeeded Otto Steiger (2002–2014), who was no longer a candidate. Endress was confirmed on March 15, 2020 as a joint applicant of the CSU, Greens, SPD, FW and PW with 87.84% for a further six years in office.

Description of coat of arms : The coat of arms of the municipality of Blaichach, which has been in use since 1966, shows a three-lap red flag in silver over two diagonally crossed green oak leaves, on which three diagonally positioned golden squares are placed side by side.

economy
In 1998 there were 2,028 employees subject to social security contributions at the place of residence. There were ten companies in the manufacturing sector and eight in the construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 66 farms with an agricultural area of 1,808 hectares .
The Blaichach Economic Forum is an amalgamation of Blaichach companies. It pursues various goals in order to increase the attractiveness of the municipality of Blaichach.
traffic
Blaichach station is on the Immenstadt – Oberstdorf railway line . The high bridge built in 1901 over the Gunzesrieder Ach west of the Gunzesried district was one of the oldest reinforced concrete bridges in Germany. It was replaced by a new building against resistance from the preservation authorities.
education
In addition to a kindergarten, the community has an elementary school with an integrated elementary school and middle school. The middle school students come mainly from Blaichach and Gunzesried, but also from the neighboring community of Burgberg and partly from Sonthofen.
