Silea is a north-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 10,221 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Treviso in Veneto . The community is located about 4 kilometers east-southeast of the city center of Treviso on the Sile .

history

The municipality of Silea was probably already in the 2nd century BC the settlement of the early Venetians . The Via Claudia Augusta Altinate led along here. The district of Sant'Elena is first mentioned in 1089, Cendon in 1178. The former municipality name Melma was changed in 1935 to Silea.
