Sosnowskoje ( Russian Сосно́вское ) is an urban-type settlement in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in Russia with 8,746 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is about 75 km as the crow flies southwest of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Administrative Center , not far from the right-hand Oka tributary Kishma .
Sosnowskoje is the administrative center of the Rajons Sosnowski and seat and only town of the municipality (gorodskoje posselenije) Rabotchi possjolok Sosnowskoje.
history
The place was founded in the 16th century. From the beginning of the 17th century, increasingly from the end of the 18th century, Sosnovskoye developed into the administrative seat of a Volost , as in many villages in the region, which is less usable for agriculture due to poor soil, the metalworking handicraft, especially the manufacture of tools.
Since 1935 Sosnowskoje has been the administrative seat of a district that was separated from the Pavlovsky rajon . In 1938 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.

The settlement is on the regional road 22K-0036, which , coming from Pavlovo , continues in a southerly direction via Muchtolowo to 22K-0079 near Ardatow . The closest railway station, Metallist, is located in Pavlovo, about 20 km north, at the end of a line from Nizhny Novgorod.
