Voznesenskoje ( Russian Вознесе́нское ) is an urban-type settlement in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in Russia with 6,777 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is located about 175 km as the crow flies southwest of the administrative center of Nizhny Novgorod, not far from the borders with Ryazan Oblast and the Republic of Mordovia . It is located on the right Mokscha tributary Warnawa, which is dammed up there to form a small reservoir.
Voznesenskoje is the administrative center of Voznesensky Rajons and the seat and only locality of the municipality (gorodskoje posselenije) Rabotschi possjolok Voznesenskoje.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1773 as the village of Kudinowo in connection with the opening of an ironworks, which was named Voznesensky Sawod . The factory settlement, which from the end of the century belonged to the Ujesd Temnikow of the Tambov governorate, also bore this name .
The plant was closed in 1913, whereby the settlement lost its economic importance; However, in July 1929, as the former seat of a Volost, it became the administrative seat of a Rajons formed from this, now under the current name. In 1961 Voznesenskoye received urban-type settlement status.

The regional road 22K-0061, coming from the north from the town of Vyksa , about 60 km away, runs through Vosnesenskoye and continues to Sarov a good 30 km east. There is also the nearest train station (outside the restricted area of the closed city ), the end point of a branch line from Shatki on the Nizhny Novgorod - Arsamas - Saransk line . In a south-westerly direction, 22K-0065 branches off in Vosnesenskoye to the border of the Republic of Mordovia, from there to Tenguschewo , with a connection to 22K-0083 to the border of Ryazan Oblast, from there via Yermish to Sassovo .
