Superman (original title: Superman: The Animated Series ) is an American animated television series from the late 1990s, based on the eponymous comic book character Superman by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster based. She makes no reference to previous adaptations of the character and thus starts the series again for television. It is also the youngest cartoon series adaptation to date, focusing on Superman's adventures. In some later cartoons as well as the later produced crossover cartoon series The Justice League , Superman is also included as a central character.
action
The framework of Superman implements the current variant of the comic template. According to this, Superman is an alien who was sent as an infant by his parents with a spacecraft from his home planet Krypton to earth to save him from the imminent destruction of his home planet. Here on earth he has a multitude of superpowers that he uses for the benefit of humanity. In order to be able to live among normal people, he created an alter ego Clark Kent , who he works as at the Daily Planet newspaper . There he works with the reporter Lois Lane and falls in love with her. He must make sure that his secret identity is not revealed.
However, the individual storylines go far beyond the well-known frame story. So it gets Superman in the course of the series in addition to his well-known archenemy Lex Luthor with powerful alien opponents, such as. B. Darkseid and Lobo , who can be physically dangerous to him even without kryptonite and do Mr. Mxyzptlk .
