Prostiboř (German Prostibor ) is a municipality with 142 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the Czech Republic . It is located southwest of Stříbro (Eng. Mies ) on the Úhlavka between the towns with their manors Tuněchody u Stříbra ( Tinchau ) and Darmyšl ( Darmschlag ).
history
It was first mentioned in 1115. The meaning of the name is "the people - the court of Prostobor". Prostibor was the ancestral seat of a knight family of the same name. The parish church of St. Nicholas was mentioned as early as the 14th century.
In the district of Kopec there was a 13th century castle on the rocky Walluschka hill. It was originally a Gothic building that was converted into a castle in the 17th century. The building, which was owned by the von Löwenstein family before 1945 , fell into complete disrepair after the Second World War and collapsed. On June 19, 2004, work began on securing the ruins.
