The Augsburg Adult Education Center is the third largest adult education center in Bavaria after the Munich and Nuremberg . It was founded on March 19, 1904 by the Lord Mayor of Augsburg, Georg von Wolfram . It was the first German adult education center to award internationally recognized language certificates such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Its program includes over 3,700 events each year from courses , seminars , workshops , lectures , symposia , excursions , city and museum tours , exhibitions , study trips , forums and cultural events that are used by around 67,000 people. In addition to 37 permanent employees, there are around 650 freelance lecturers .

Training academy
At the instructor academy u. a. in cooperation with the German Society for Supervision (DGSv) offered a training to become a supervisor .
Vocational training / IT
In the area of vocational education , topics related to the development of professional skills are addressed. The range of courses extends from key professional qualifications (e.g. management skills , rhetoric and communication, office and work organization, basic commercial knowledge , application training) to IT / media and legal issues . The nationwide recognized course and certificate system "Xpert Business (XB)" enables the certification of commercial and business competencies, from entry level to professional level.
In the area of electronic data processing , the individual components of the courses range from Microsoft Office to graphics applications (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite , Adobe Illustrator , Adobe Photoshop , Adobe Photoshop Lightroom , Adobe Photoshop Elements ), multimedia , Internet (e.g. Facebook , Google) , Twitter , XING ), website creation (e.g. WordPress , HTML ) / web design , programming (e.g. Java , C # , Android ), handling operating systems , tablets and smartphones through to specialties such as AutoCAD .
A special feature is the option of obtaining globally standardized and recognized certificates (e.g. Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) and Adobe Certified Associate certificates).

In the area of society , courses are offered on the subjects of general education , history , politics / current affairs and psychology .

In the area of health , the program consists of topics from the individual areas of medicine , health care , nutrition , relaxation , Far Eastern methods ( yoga ), exercise / fitness ( water aerobics , Pilates ) as well as sports and dance .
The offer of dance courses ranges from flamenco to classical ballroom dances , salsa and set dance to folk dance .
Arts and Culture
In the field of art and culture , courses are offered on the subjects of artistic design , art history , literature , music , religion and theater .
The range of time - and drawing courses ranging from watercolor , acrylic , oil and mixed media on nude and portrait drawing to portfolio courses to prepare for the entrance examination for universities , fashion schools and academies .
The handicrafts offer includes sculpture , felting , photography ( nudes , portraits ), basket weaving , jewelry making , carpentry , welding and pottery .
The range of music on offer includes courses such as learning to play wind , string and keyboard instruments , sheet music and voice training .

In the area of life are cooking classes offered. There you will also the offer for Thai or Turkish or Mediterranean cuisine and sushi cooking classes or chocolates courses .

In the area of languages , the courses include foreign languages such as English , Italian , French and Spanish through to the seldom taught languages such as ancient Egyptian or modern Greek . Open German courses and general and job-related integration courses have a large share. These courses are either fully or partially financed by the BAMF.
