The election campaign for the 2013 state elections was a winter election campaign in which there was some friction between the parties and citizens. Citizens were annoyed by posters before Christmas that were hung up in accordance with the state election law . The press, such as Der Spiegel, reported, however, that there were agreements between the parties that the election campaign would not take place before Christmas.

In addition, many authorities and communities were confused by such articles. As a result, the required approval for posting was often not granted, which again led to displeasure among the parties.
