Wesnowo ( Russian Весново , German  Wasserlauken , 1938 to 1945 Wasserlacken , Lithuanian Vasarlaukiai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Slawsk in slavsky district .

Geographical location

Wesnowo is located 20 kilometers northwest of the former district town of Chernyachovsk (Insterburg) and 28 kilometers south of the present day capital of Slavsk (Heinrichswalde) and can be reached via a spur road from Krasnoye (Lindicken) . There is no train connection.

history

The village, founded around 1660 and then called Wasserkehm , consisted of several small farms before 1945. In 1874 it was in the newly built office district chug incorporated, named in 1927 "District Buchhof" and until 1945 the county Insterburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged.

For political and ideological reasons to avoid foreign-sounding place names, Wasserlauken was renamed "Wasserlauken" on June 3rd - officially confirmed on July 16th - of the year 1938. On April 1, 1939, the village was finally incorporated into the municipality of Lindenberg.

In 1945 the place came to the Soviet Union in the wake of the war with northern East Prussia . In 1947 he was given the Russian name "Wesnowo" again and was also assigned to the Kalinowski selski Sowet in the Bolshakovo Rajon . The place later came to the Vysokovsky selski Sowet in Slavsk Raion . From 2008 to 2015, Wesnovo belonged to the rural municipality of Bolshakovskoye selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Slavsk.

The almost exclusively Protestant population of Wasserlaukens resp. Wasserlackens was parish until 1945 in the parish of the Aulowönen Church (1938 to 1946: Aulenbach, today in Russian: Kalinowka). It belonged to the church district Insterburg within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
