Schönbühel-Aggsbach is a market town with 953 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Melk district in Lower Austria .
geography
Schönbühel-Aggsbach is located in Lower Austria in the Wachau on the right bank of the Danube. The area of the market town covers 28.33 square kilometers. 71.69 percent of the area is forested.

history
In 1969 the community was created through the merger of the communities Schönbühel and Aggsbach Dorf.
Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1033 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 1,045 inhabitants, in 1981 1,051 and in 1971 1,017 inhabitants.

economy
In 2001 there were 42 non-agricultural workplaces, and according to the 1999 survey there were 42 in agriculture and forestry. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment at home was 477. In 2001, the employment rate was 47.82 percent.
Culture and sights
- Aggsbach Charterhouse with the Charterhouse Museum and the parish church. An elongated, uniform building - consecrated in 1392 - with a 5/8 end and a simple tower on the north side, which was built after the monastery was closed at the end of the 18th century.
