Xırdalan (also Khyrdalan , Khurdalan or Xirdalan ) is the capital of the Abşeron Rayon in Azerbaijan . It has about 95,200 inhabitants (2014).

The settlement received city status on November 29, 2006 after approval by the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan .

Xırdalan is home to the largest brewery in the country, Baltika Baku , which was formerly known as Xırdalan . In 2007 a monument was erected in the city for the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak . After the revolution in Egypt in 2011 , the Azerbaijani opposition, led by the Musavat party, called for the statue to be demolished and called it a "worship of idols".
