Austrian Football Women's Championship 1998/99
1997/98

The Austrian women's football championship was held for the 27th time in 1998/99 after the 35-year break between 1938 and 1972. The top division is the women's Bundesliga and was held for the 17th time. The second highest division , the 20th edition this season, was divided into two regional leagues, with the 2nd Division East and the Regionalliga West being held for the 5th time.

Union Kleinmünchen became Austrian football champions for the eighth time . The champions of the second highest division were SC Brunn am Gebirge (East) and FC Egg (West).

Season course

Unlike last year, when eight clubs took part, the league was made up of seven teams, as DFC Heidenreichstein was relegated last season and there was no promoted from the second division. Union Kleinmünchen became champions in the top division for the second time in a row , thus winning their eighth title. ASV Vösendorf had to relegate, but at the same time it stopped playing.

    Second performance level

    The second level is played in two regional groups: 2nd Division East and Regionalliga West.

    The second performance level consisted of two leagues, separated by region:

    • 2. Division East with the clubs from Burgenland ( BFV ), Lower Austria ( NÖFV ) and Vienna ( WFV ) and
    • Regionalliga West with the clubs from Tyrol ( TFV ) and Vorarlberg ( VFV ).

    2nd Division East

    Everyone played against everyone twice in 20 rounds. A win was rewarded with three points, a draw with one point.

    Season course

    The league consisted of eleven teams compared to the previous year, in which nine clubs participated. Compared to last year, the relegated DFC Heidenreichstein , DFC Rohrbach / Gölsen , SG Ardagger / Neustadtl , FFC Wien United 1998 and ASV Nickelsdorf were in this championship instead of the B team from USC Landhaus , ATSV Deutsch-Wagram and the SV Donau . This season, SC Brunn am Gebirge became champions in the 2nd Division East, which means that they are entitled to play in the highest performance class next season with third-placed FC Hellas Kagran . The DFC Obersdorf waived the second place on the second promotion place, which was created because no club rose last season.

    The Regionalliga West began on May 1, 1999 and ended on June 12, 1999 with the 12th round. The opening game was the encounter between FC Egg and SK Zirl . The champions were FC Egg, who wanted to move up to the top division. SK Zirl was last.

    The league consisted of eight clubs that played against each other in a round trip. The champions of the Lower Austrian women's league were determined in 14 rounds.

    Season course

    The league was made up of eight clubs compared to the previous year, in which six clubs took part, because SG Ardagger / Neustadtl rose to the 2nd Division East and the league became 2nd women's teams from FC Hellas Kagran Vienna , USC Landhaus and ESV Süd-Ost increased. Champion this season was after the 2nd women's team from FC Hellas Kagran Wien SC Moosbrunn , which is not entitled to play in the top division next season. The second women's team from ESV Süd-Ost was relegated to the lower division.

    There are no records of the competition being held. The women from FC Alberschwende , Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz II , New Energy 95 Dornbirn , FC Götzis , FC Fussach and FC Lingenau were promoted to the Regionalliga West women .

    The league consisted of six clubs that played against each other in 3 rounds, a round trip and a second round and again a first round. The champions of the Upper Austrian regional league were determined in 15 rounds.

    Season course

    The league was made up of six clubs compared to the previous year, in which seven clubs participated, because FC Münzkirchen was not there. The winner this season was the 2nd women's team of Union Kleinmünchen , the champions of Upper Austria. Women's football national league was the SV Garsten , which were not allowed to play in the top division next season. UFC Peterskirchen / Andrichsfurt and SV Taufkirchen / Pram were relegated to the lower division.
