The Swiss Autostrasse 52 , also known as Forchstrasse or Forchautostrasse , is a cantonal autostrasse in the canton of Zurich and leads in two lanes (section Zumikon, Egg, Esslingen to Gossau single-lane) and in separate directions from Zurich over the Forch into the Zurich Oberland . It begins at Zurich-Hirslanden as a two-lane country road and from Zumikon it is signposted as a car road. Shortly before Hinwil there is a connection to the A15 (formerly A53) towards Rapperswil via the Betzholz roundabout .
Serious traffic accidents occurred again and again on the A52, which was originally not directionally separated. At the beginning of November 2004, the Zurich government council approved a project to separate the direction of Forchstrasse between Forch and Egg. The directional separation was carried out with guard rails and is intended to improve traffic safety on the Forchautobahn. The structural separation of the directions of travel minimizes the risk of frontal collisions.
There is no vignette requirement for the A 52 , as the A52 is a cantonal road and not a national road .
