Adrián , with full name Adrián San Miguel del Castillo (born January 3, 1987 in Seville ), is a Spanish football player . The goalkeeper is under contract with Liverpool FC in the Premier League .

Club career

After going through some of the youth teams of the La Liga team Betis Sevilla , he made 62 appearances over a full six years for Betis' second team, which currently plays in the Spanish third division, the Segunda División B. In 2012 Adrian made his breakthrough with the Betis first team. He made his debut for the first team in the 4-0 away defeat in Málaga on February 29, 2012. In the entire 2012/13 season, he did not miss a game from the 6th match day and made a name for himself with good performances.

In the 2013 summer transfer phase, West Ham United signed the Spaniard on a free transfer. In the first season he was able to prevail against the Finn Jussi Jääskeläinen in goal of the Hammers and became number one of coach Sam Allardyce . The highlight of his career so far was in the third round of the FA Cup of the 2014/15 season. In the penalty shoot-out against Everton FC , he converted the decisive penalty .

His contract, which originally ran until the summer of 2017, was extended for another two years.

With the beginning of the season 2017/18 had Adrián in the gate to the of Manchester City loaned goalkeeper England , Joe Hart post, which then after release Slaven Bilics and setting the new Trainier David Moyes but had to sit on the bench and Adrian could stand between the posts again in the Premier League . In the 2018/19 season under coach Manuel Pellegrini , Adrian had to sit on the bench after signing Poland's Łukasz Fabiański and was only used in the cup.

After his contract with West Ham United had expired, he signed a contract with Liverpool for the 2019/20 season as a replacement for the previous second goalkeeper Simon Mignolet . Adrián had to be substituted on for the injured goalkeeper Alisson Becker on matchday 1 . Liverpool FC won the UEFA Super Cup with Adrián the following week , holding up Tammy Abraham's attempt on penalties and thus securing the title for his team. In December 2019, Adrián and Liverpool won the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup against Flamengo Rio de Janeiro 1-0 after extra time.
