Anatoly Nikolaevich Jarkin

Anatoly Nikolajewitsch Jarkin (Russian Анатолий Николаевич Яркин; born November 11, 1958 in Novoye Zaporozhye , Ukraine ) is a former Soviet cyclist and Olympic champion in cycling .

Athletic career

His international career began in February 1979 with the tour of Cuba , where he immediately won two stages. In the summer he became the Soviet team time trial champion . A year later he became Olympic champion in the team time trial with the selection of the Soviet Union (with Yuri Aleksejewitsch Kaschirin , Oleg Nikolajewitsch Logwin and Sergei Vasiljewitsch Schelpakow ). He also started in the Olympic road race and finished sixth there. A year later he again won two stages of the Tour of Cuba. In 1981 he won silver at the UCI Road World Championship in the team time trial. In May 1982 he finished ninth in the International Peace Tour. In 1983 he won the national title in the individual time trial . He started for the VS Kuybyshev club.
