Attiswil is a municipality in the Oberaargau administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland . It consists of a single village that lies at the southern foot of the Jura .
history
In the Middle Ages Attiswil belonged to the Bipp dominion , which fell to Bern and Solothurn in 1413 . From 1463 the rulership rights lay only with Bern and Attiswil was assigned to the Wiedlisbach court of the Bipp bailiff . With the French occupation of the city-state of Bern in 1798 and the introduction of the Helvetic Republic , Attiswil became part of the Wangen district. With the construction of the church in 1948, Attiswil got its own reformed rectory within the parish of Oberbipp.
The Freistein near Attiswil is a rare specimen that is unparalleled in Switzerland in terms of early and legal history.

On January 9, 1918, the Solothurn-Niederbipp-Bahn line with a station in Attiswil went into operation.
