The Oberaargau in the canton of Bern was founded on January 1 of 2010. The district belongs to the administrative region of Emmental-Oberaargau and comprises 45 communities on 330.83 km² with a total of 81,759 inhabitants:

The district consists of all municipalities of the former districts of Aarwangen and Wangen as well as four communities of the former district of Trachselwald (Eriswil, Huttwil, Walterswil and Wyssachen).
